The Friends of the Pembroke Center are Brown University alumnae/i, parents, and friends who support the Pembroke Center and its scholars. Annual donations from Friends help the Center produce scholarly forums that are the lifeblood of innovative research and offer new courses for Brown's undergraduate students.
The Friends also produce events featuring notable alumnae, campus lectures with Brown faculty, and oral history recordings. These avenues offer Brown alumnae/i and the broader community opportunities to engage with the Center’s research, teaching and archives.
The name "Friends of the Pembroke Center" was adopted in 2021, replacing the name Pembroke Center Associates. The new name more accurately describes our community, reflects its inclusiveness, and dispels any confusion arising from the terms “Associate” or “membership,” which are no longer in use. The Pembroke Center is open to all, and greatly strengthened by all the Friends who have shown and continue to show support for the Center's work.
The Pembroke Center Advisory Council (formerly the Pembroke Center Associates Council) is the governing body of the Friends of the Pembroke Center.
