Printing Our Passion: Zine Culture at Brown University and Beyond

Thursday, April 12, 2018
6:30-8:30pm
14A Washington Mews, 1st Floor, New York City

Pembroke Center Associates and Brown University TBGALA invite you to a discussion of zines in NYC April 12, 2018 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The event will feature Deputy Editor of the Brown Alumni Magazine, Louise Sloan '88, the Archivist at the Pembroke Center, Mary Murphy, and Brown University student Malana Krongelb '19, the curator of Brown University's first zine collection. Zines are self-published, do-it-yourself works made for passion instead of for profit. Learn about the history and role of zine culture as we discuss how zines create community, give voice to marginalized peoples, document political movements, and—as analog objects—push back against digitization and the Internet in a politically charged era.

Space is limited and registration is required.

Please reply to martha_hamblett@brown.edu or 401-863-3433 by April 6.
