Faculty: Nomination period open for Pembroke Center thesis and dissertation prizes

PrizesPrizesThe Pembroke Center invites Brown faculty to nominate Brown students for our thesis and dissertation prizes by Thursday, April 23rd.

The Ruth Simmons Prize in Gender and Women’s Studies is awarded each year to a Brown University undergraduate who has written an outstanding undergraduate honors thesis on questions having to do with women or gender. To nominate, email a copy of the thesis and the thesis adviser's evaluation to [email protected]

The Marie J. Langlois Prize is awarded to a Brown PhD candidate for an outstanding dissertation in areas related to gender studies or feminist analysis. To nominate, email a nominating letter including a brief description of the dissertation, a letter of support from a second member of the dissertation committee, and a copy of the dissertation to [email protected]  

Each prize winner is awarded $1,000, and nominees may work in any field. 

The Joan Wallach Scott Prize is awarded to an outstanding honors thesis by a concentrator in Gender and Sexuality Studies. The prize carries with it an award of $500.
