Audio recordings from the Hortense J. Spillers papers

May 17, 2021

The Pembroke Center Archives is excited to announce that 24 audio recordings from the Hortense J. Spillers papers are now available through the Brown Digital Repository!

Included are recordings from the 1988 Birth of Black Cinema Symposium organized by Toni Morrison and those that capture the voices of Toni Cade Bamabara, Spike Lee, and other notable writers.

The recordings are available via a partnership between the Pembroke Center and the John Hay Library. Thanks to the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) endowed fund, which made  the preservation of these recordings possible.

Be sure to check out the recordings here.
