What Your Gift Supports

Student Research Your gift will help fund research and internship grants so that Brown's undergraduate and graduate students may explore their intellectual passions. Our grant recipients have explored topics such as: government regulation of foster care and adoption, HIV services in Havana, Cuba, the state of race and gender in electronic music performance, and improving reproductive health education for incarcerated women.

Teaching about Issues Affecting Women and GirlsYour gift will help make it possible for the Center to offer courses such as "Reproductive Health: Science and Politics," "Sex and the Law: Strange Bedfellows," "Gender, Race, and the Politics of Humanitarianism,"and "Feminist Theory/Feminist Activism" as part of the Gender and Sexuality Studies undergraduate concentration.

Alumnae/i Programs Your gift will support public conversations that explore timely issues such as reproductive rights, foreign policy, women filmmakers,  and diversity in higher education. We offer our programs regionally and on campus.

Women's Archives - Your gift will help the Pembroke Center support its two archives, the Christine Dunlap Farnham Archive and the Feminist Theory Archive. The Christine Dunlap Farnham Archive focuses on the history of Brown/Pembroke and Rhode Island women and documents women's leadership in social causes, including the abolitionist movement and the fight for women's access to higher education. The Feminist Theory Archive is dedicated to the intellectual history of feminist theory and attracts researchers to Brown to explore the work of these eminent feminist scholars. The Center is offering expanding programming in both archives to explore women's history at Brown and the work of eminent feminist scholars and enrich these resources for research.

The Friends of the Pembroke Center provide critical support for the Pembroke Center's cutting-edge research, student learning, and programs that provide alumnae/i with unique opportunities to stay intellectually engaged with Brown University.

Please join us and help ensure a bright future for the Pembroke Center and its community of scholars.

Thank you for your support!
