A key element of the Brown-Jimma University collaboration has been the dissemination of policy relevant findings from the JLFSY to policy makers, stake holders and researchers in Ethiopia. The JLFYS Policy Briefs highlight key research findings and provide recommendations for implementable interventions. The Policy Briefs have been widely disseminated in Ethiopia, and faculty and students at Jimma University have developed public health messages from the Policy Briefs for broadcast on local radio. One direct result of the Brown-Jimma collaboration is Jimma University's new requirement that research projects include the production and dissemination of policy briefs as a research output. Several on-going research projects at Jimma University use the JLFSY Policy Briefs as a template.
Starting in 2009 Brown University also worked with faculty from Haramaya University's Kersa Demographic Surveillance and Health Research Center on the production of policy briefs from that project.
