The Brown Chapter of Sigma Xi
The Mission of Sigma Xi:
Culture: The Society is a diverse chapter-based organization dedicated to the advancement of science and engineering through outstanding programs and services delivered in a collegial and supportive environment.
Mission: To enhance the health of the research enterprise, foster integrity in science and engineering, and promote the public's understanding of science for the purpose of improving the human condition.
Vision: To be the global honor society of science and engineering.
Goals of Sigma Xi at Brown:
- To provide national research visibility for students
- To help students improve their science communication skills
- To provide opportunities for students to network and connect with scientists in related fields
- To expand the prospects for research grants and aid
Membership in Sigma Xi:
Membership is available to both undergraduate and graduate students. Qualified members are nominated from each department in February and invited to attend an award ceremony in May. Associate members are usually undergrads (juniors & seniors) and graduate students. Full Members are graduate students, faculty, and alumni.
