CANCELED: Actively Include Disabled Students in Your Classroom (A Jigsaw Workshop)

, 720

On March 18th, student leaders will lead a 50-minute workshop highlighting what Brown faculty and teaching assistants can do to more effectively include disabled students* in the learning environment. Working with anonymized scenarios, we will discuss how we can address marginalizing experiences reported by disabled students at Brown with a set of inclusive teaching practices. Participants in this workshop will have the opportunity to explore two of three approaches in 15-minute breakout discussions and receive resources for all three. The workshop will be held on March 18th from 12 noon to 12:50 pm in Sci Li 720. Lunch provided (register here).

*The workshop leaders use the term “disabled students” in contrast to “students with disabilities” to communicate that their disabilities are important parts of their identity and lived experience. We recognize that how people identify is shaped by their disabilities, other identities, and experiences of marginalization, community, and inclusion.
