Collaborative Research and Scholarly Experiences (COEX)

The College Curriculum Council has approved a new curricular designation: Collaborative Research and Scholarly Experiences, also known as “COEX.” This new designation was created to signal courses that engage groups of students in addressing a research question or knowledge gap of interest to scholarly communities. A COEX class makes research and scholarly experiences more inclusive and accessible to students, and they are designed to complement the traditional model of 1:1 faculty-student mentorships or independent studies. Please consider if your Spring or Summer 2021 course might fit this definition.

You can learn more about these rich educational experiences on the College’s webpage (http://brown.edu/go/COEX). In addition, we invite you to join Mark Johnson (MCB) and other Brown faculty and students for a roundtable session on Friday, October 30 where you can learn more about the COEX designation. This session will be facilitated by Stacey Lawrence (Sheridan Center). Please register to receive a Zoom link.
