Summer STEM Decolonizing Reading Group

Want to build an understanding of what decolonization is and how it could apply to our STEM spaces? Then join our reading group that will begin in June! The goals for this reading group are to: begin to develop a theoretical foundation on how to decolonize STEM learning spaces; integrate new decolonization concepts into current STEM programming and teaching; and develop new programming that explicitly addresses how to decolonize our STEM teaching. This summer, we will begin by reading, Teaching Critical Thinking by bell hooks. As a participant you will read chapters, write reflections, and meet every two weeks with others in the group. This reading group is open to any an all, however there will be a focus on STEM students and educators who are new to thinking about decolonization. Books will be provided at no cost and the reading group will be facilitated by Dr. Christina Smith (Diné) from the Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning. If you are interested, PLEASE FILL OUT the google form linked by MAY 26 to provide time to purchase books.
