Teaching Research Skills in the Humanities and Social Sciences

Sheridan Center for Teaching & Learning

Do your students know what it means to "do research" in the context of the class you are teaching? Do you want to give them guidance beyond "just google it" or "check out a book from the library"? In this workshop, led by Librarian Ian Straughn, we will explore strategies for training students in effective research skills. Topics include working with subject librarians to find and evaluate resources for their research, navigating how to teach students to use the research as evidence to support arguments, and avoiding plagiarism and establishing proper citation practices. (A workshop on "Teaching Research Skills in STEM" will be offered in the spring.) Please register here https://sheridan-center.appshosting.com/pma/apex/f?p=210:76:0::NO::P76_E....
