Gateways is a peer-reviewed, open access, scholarly journal concerned with the practice and processes of university-community engagement. Through its open publishing practices, Gateways provides academics, practitioners and communities with free access to high quality research, analysis, cases studies and reviews in community-engaged scholarship and practice.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2018, it is established as a leading journal in the field of university-community engagement and a flagship publication for social justice and inclusion. Gateways attracts international experts as authors, editorial and advisory board members and peer-reviewers, while its readership profile is expanding rapidly.
Affirming its role as a leader in socially aware, open access publishing, Gateways is also now piloting an innovative Author+Editor mentoring program, aimed at supporting historically and geographically underrepresented engaged scholars to reach publication in an English language research journal.
Gateways is jointly edited and managed by UTS Shopfront Community Program at the Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, and The Swearer Center for Public Service, Brown University, Providence, RI, USA.
