No matter how bright and energetic the students and no matter how talented and committed the faculty, it is impossible to carry out first-rate programs of teaching and research without adequate support facilities and programs. One of the most important recommendations of the Academic Enrichment Initiatives is to begin to make substantial investments in those areas that are most critical to the work of our students and faculty.

Diller Scofidio + Renfro to Design New Creative Arts Center

The Corporation of Brown University selected the internationally renowned architecture firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro to design the new Creative Arts Center. Brown University Library Acquires Collection of David E. Pingree

The Brown University Library has acquired the library of the late David E. Pingree, an internationally renowned scholar of the history of mathematics. The collection, consisting of more than 22,000 materials, is a remarkable resource for the study of mathematics in the ancient world, in particular India, and the relationship of Eastern mathematics to the development of mathematics and related disciplines in the West.
