Website Accessibility at Brown

Diversity and inclusion are central to Brown’s mission, and the University is committed to sustaining a culture in which each individual’s dignity is acknowledged and accorded with respect. In support of this objective, the University has policies, procedures and practices related to digital accessibility. The University aims to ensure the information on its websites is available to the broadest possible audience, meeting the standards in the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

Web Accessibility Policy

This University policy establishes accessibility standards to ensure access to the Brown’s web and online content, regardless of an individual’s physical or developmental abilities.


Web Accessibility Training

New and existing online content created by Brown’s faculty, staff and student employees must comply with web accessibility standards. All website content editors are required to watch a training video.


WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool)

WAVE is a free, third-party tool that website content editors can use to evaluate the accessibility of webpages.
