The Leadership Institute
The world is facing a myriad of complicated and often times daunting challenges: global health issues, environmental issues, conflicts and wars, poverty, mass immigration, security issues and civil rights abuses. These challenges demand the attention of every member of the global community.
At the Leadership Institute, our students are intelligent and motivated to make a difference. Our mission is to:
help students develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes associated with effective and socially responsible leadership.
Many leadership programs focus on building skills, e.g. public speaking, problem solving and working in a team. The Institute helps you develop these skills, but in the context of, or in relationship to, a set of social and global issues-climate change, conflict, health, global issues, diversity and civil rights. Our goal is to help you understand these complex challenges and apply your knowledge and skills to the issues you care about most.
At the Institute we believe that leadership is more than position, it is about the process of influence. To participate you don't have to be the president of student government or the captain of an athletic team. If you are willing to engage in the process of influencing others for social good, the Leadership Institute can show you how to build new skills and knowledge with your own strengths and passions to make a difference.
