UTRA Funding

How can I support an UTRA?

The UTRA/Odyssey program was initiated in 1986 with a challenge grant from the Ford Foundation. It has been supported since that time by a number of foundations, corporations, and individuals: the Ford Foundation again, Chase Manhattan Bank, General Mills, the May Department Store Company, the Alden Trust, Citibank, the Evelyn Jacobs Reisman Fund, the L.G. Balfour Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Sloan Foundation, and the National Science Foundation. In addition to foundation grants, the program is currently supported by University funds, its endowment, and the many alumni and friends who contribute directly to the fund.

Sponsor an UTRA/Odyssey

  • Support for a 10-week summer UTRA/Odyssey to work with a faculty in this country or abroad is $2,640.

  • Support for a fellowship modelled after the Manchester Fellowship, but located at another site abroad linked to Brown through the professional connections of an alumnus is $3500.
