Every year approximately 200 undergraduates are awarded Fellowships under the Undergraduate Teaching and Research Assistantships Program. Through this Program students work closely with a faculty member. Sometimes the work is based on a student's initiative or particular question they may have. Sometimes a faculty member invites a student to work with him/her because of some particular ability or skill that the faculty has recognized in the student and would like to bring into work that he/she is doing. Students are encouraged and supported through advising and public meetings which discuss the experiences of students with the process, to approach faculty around their interests. Brown's intent is that each project is shaped by the interests, experience, expertise and skills of the two collaborators. It also means that we consider mutual learning to be part of the process of the Fellowship Program. Applications for the next school year are due each February; read the application guidelines for details.
