Helicobacter Heilmanni (stomach)

 

 

This Giemsa stained gastric biopsy shows typical elongated corkscrew shaped organisms present within a gastric pit.

H. heilmannii is a relative of H. pylori and is seen in lesser animals. In man it is 300 times less prevalent than H. pylori

and has been associated with MALT lymphoma (Harrison’s text). Others regard it as causing only mild gastritis.
