Serous papillary carcinoma (ovary)

An 18 year-old woman presented with increased pain with menses for 5 months and recent onset abdominal bloating.  CT scan

showed bilateral complex ovarian masses and ascites with calcifications. The photo shows papillary growth of this malignancy.

As in this case, psammoma bodies are often present. Serous carcinoma is a high-grade malignancy with a poor prognosis.
