Small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma

 

 

The component cells are small and have hyperchromatic nuclei and small amounts of cytoplasm. Some of these

 tumors may be associated with the paraneoplastic (ectopic) production of ACTH (adrenocorticotrophic hormone).
