Renal tubular dysgenesis
Notably absent in this neonatal renal cortex are any structures bearing histological features of proximal
convoluted tubules, Such kidneys have other features of disorganization including abnormal medullary rays
and increased number of layers of glomeruli. These features have been reported in several clinical settings
including fetuses of mothers who have received ACE inhibitors and in twin transfusion syndrome.
