Sclerosing lipogranuloma

This name is given to a granulomatous inflammatory reaction occurring in subcutaneous fat which for various reasons

has undergone necrosis. The lesions are often secondary to subcutaneous injection of oily substances in the female

breast or male genitalia. This was a scrotal lesion of undetermined cause. Note, in photo A, fat cells and a

granulomatous reaction with prominent giant cells, fibrosis with hyalinization. In photo B, eosinophils are present.
