Brown University and the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole have recently entered into a partnership.

The partnership to increase the educational and research capacity of both institutions. The MBL is one of the most distinguished biological research laboratories in the world and will bring outstanding research opportunities to the Brown community. A Brown/MBL joint graduate program was launched in 2003 and its first class matriculated in the Fall of 2004. Other features of the partnership will be joint faculty appointments, MBL faculty teaching Brown courses at Brown and at MBL and graduate training grants. Learn more.

Environmental Change initiative (ECI)

The Environmental Change initiative (ECI) is part of Brown President, Ruth Simmons' Academic Enrichment Initiative. The goal of the ECI is to bring existing strengths at Brown in Geological Science, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Environmental Studies, Population Studies, and Economics to focus on problems of the environment.
