This course will help you to gain more expertise in two of Brown's Nine Abilities: 1) Using basic science in the practice of medicine
There will be two exams which are not cumulative--you must past both exams to pass this course. The exams will contain some multiple choice questions taken from old Medical Board Part I exams, and short answer and essay questions based on the course material and the cases. Grades: You can all achieve the basic goals of this course by fulfilling the following plan of action: 1. Read the textbook : concentrate on the diseases discussed in lecture and try to design your own tables to categorize the pathologic changes and to compare similar but different entities; 2. Attend the lectures: Be sure that you have understood the major points at the end of class. Don't be afraid to ask questions, or to come and see me during office hours. 3. Review your lecture notes and assigned reading systematically
before each exam.
Honors will be awarded based on achieving a cumulative exam score above 90%. You have all successfully completed two semesters of Pathology and you know the basis of many human diseases. If you use that knowledge, attend lectures, and study the text, you should all pass this course and the National Boards successfully!
