Prepare for success with college-level academics, experience college life, and make new friends from around the world. Academics are at the core of the Brown Pre-College experience, with more than 300 courses to choose from – on campus, online, or overseas.

Summer Pre-College Courses

Our most popular offering - High school students who have completed at least the 9th grade explore subjects in a non-credit environment. Experience college life, and advance your studies without the pressure of grades. Course lengths from one to four weeks - many accepted students choose to attend more than one session.

Summer Session Credit Courses

Rising or graduated high school seniors earn college credit in seven-week courses, studying side-by-side with Brown undergraduates.

Online Courses

Brown offers Summer, Fall, and Spring sessions of online courses in Anatomy, Entrepreneurship, DNA Science, Leadership, Engineering, Writing, and Medicine.

Summer Study Abroad for High School Students

Come with Brown to Rome, Naxos or Segovia to study language, history, culture, global business, arts, and humanities in rigorous three-week academic programs.

Brown Leadership Institute

Leadership Development for High School Students
Learn leadership skills in the context of environmental issues, trade, health, security, human rights, conflict and diversity.

Brown Environmental Leadership Lab (BELL)

Students develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to create positive change on environmental issues facing their local communities and the planet. There are three BELL locations:

BELL: Rhode Island - Sustainable Development
BELL: Costa Rica - Biology, Conservation, and Sustainability
BELL: Hawaii - Ecology and Culture

Intensive English Language at Brown

English Language and Academics for University-bound Students
Over four weeks, this acclaimed program combines focused English language study with liberal arts courses for high-achieving, university-bound students. All levels of non-native speakers of English are welcome.

TheatreBridge

Immersive Theatre Study for High School Students
A highly selective six-week program provides promising young actors a unique opportunity to stretch their imaginations and skills as they create new work in a company under the mentorship of established theatre professionals.

Scholar-Athlete Program

You’re a Great student, and a Great Athlete
If you are interested in sports and wish to attend a selective and academically challenging college or university, you may be right for the Brown Summer Scholar-Athlete program.

SPARK - Science for Middle School Students

Identifying Talent, Opening Doors
A program for students who have completed 7th and 8th grade who show a passion for science. SPARK courses are designed to expose the intellectual concepts of familiar topics that are part of the student’s world. The result is an experience that’s fun, engaging, and interesting.

Brown Summer High School

Brown Summer High School is a daytime program, open to Providence-area high school students. Presented by the Brown Education Department.
