The Barus and Holley Building is located on the main Brown University campus near downtown Providence.

Brown University Travel Portal offers an array of suggestions for lodging and ground transportation, plus a host of useful links when planning your visit to the Providence area.

From our own firsthand experience:

Most downtown hotels in Providence are walking distance to the Providence Amtrak/ Boston MBTA train station. They are also mostly within walking distance to the Barus and Holley Building, though a fairly steep uphill walk to campus.

The following hotels are well-recommended:

The Westin, along with other prominent brands are typically the more luxurious (and expensive) hotels in Providence.

The Hampton Inn and Suites Providence Downtown is the most economical downtown hotel.

The Biltmore is likely the most historic, yet a fair distance from the Brown University campus.

The Radisson Hotel Providence Harbor is the closest off- campus hotel, offering a 10 minute walk to the workshop. It is also somewhat remote (not downtown), though includes a nice ocean-front park across the street on Narragansett Bay.

Please note that the on-campus Brown University Inn is no longer available.
