A class from the early 1890s (ca. 1891-1895) poses with their taxidermy specimens on the front steps of RI Hall. The older figure in the top hat is J.W.P. Jenks, and notice the student to the left of him, who is holding a specimen of a two-headed lamb. This student is actually the grandfather of Martha Sharp Joukowsky, one of the two Joukowskys after whom the Institute is named.

A wooden specimen stand identical to the ones supporting the taxidermied birds in this photo was found in the building during the gutting of the building in Summer 2008.

The graffiti on the stucco is no longer there because of the constant replacement of the outer layer during renovations. It's a shame that material records like this have been lost during restoration work.
