Note: this is a summary of the day's events. Full fieldnotes forthcoming!

We started excavations at the First Baptist Church in Providence, Rhode Island. Excavations are part of Anthropology 160, hosted by Brown University's Anthropology Department and the Artemis A.W. and Martha Sharp Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World. The field director was Dr. Zachary Nelson with Katherine Marino.

Visitors to the site today included Michael Burch, Stan Lemons, Sue Alcock, Chris Witmore and his student, Megan Goetsch.

We began laying out test pits at 1pm and ended excavations at 5:15pm. We laid out seven units, three in the rear (eastern) side of the property, and four on the front (western) side. Excavation units in the rear are named A1-A3, those in the front (west) are named B1-B4.

Excavation proceeded very well. Artifacts recovered include some modern coins and glass. (All artifacts are stored off-site each night)
