Hi! My name is Caitlin Howitt and I'm a third-year concentrating in Archaeology. I'm taking this class for multiple reasons: While i've been obsessed with Egypt since as far back as I can remember, I only realized how great Ancient Greece is when I took a trip there about 3 years ago. Yet, I still feel like I know nothing about it. Also, over the summer I spent some time working on an excavation of a Roman town in modern-day Portugal. So, I think it will be very interesting to learn about classical archaeology after having had that first-hand experience. And finally, I took a class on Greek Mythology last year and I thought it would be interesting to see the connection between Greek writings and Greek material culture.

Key Words I will be Defining: Writing systems- Linear A, Linear B, Alphabet (Early Greek), Evans, Sir Arthur, and Pylos
