Assignment I

Places of Healing in New England

Due: October 1 Monday, 5 pm to be posted on the wiki.

Description

This is a small writing project about a place of healing of your choice in the New England area. Some sites are suggested below but you are welcome to do your own research to find a fairly unknown place of healing in the New England area. The idea is for you to experience the place on your own and describe your impressions using the terms and concepts we are covering in class. It would be especially useful if you do some preliminary research about the place you are writing on (archival or library research) and speak to some of its users to find out about the cultural significance of the place, stories associated with it, and the like.

The product should be a 1500-2000 essay accompanied by visual material that can be included on a wiki posting, such as photographs, videos, drawings, field sketches and the like. Creative forms of writing is encouraged. Your essay will be posted on this page by October 1, Monday 5 pm. Please include a small bibliography or list of works cited at the end of your essay. Please follow the format that is used in this wiki.
