Edwin Román has worked at numerous sites throughout Guatemala, lending his expertise to ongoing projects at Cival, La Joyanca-Zapote Bobal, Sierra del Lacandón, El Perú-Waka, Piedras Negras, the Motagua Valley, and beyond. Román obtained his Licenciatura in Archaeology from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala in 2006 and his many publications and conference papers have explored domestic architecture, settlement patterns, and ceramic chronology in the Maya area. Román is particularly interested in Preclassic architecture, art, and iconography in the Maya Lowlands. He joins the Landscape Succession Project after working five seasons at the Maya site of San Bartolo, Petén, Guatemala.
