Rhode Island Hospital, Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, Providence, RI, is seeking a Director of Medical Education Research, one who is a dynamic physician-educator-scholar to build a medical education research program in the Division. The ideal applicant will have a track record of independent medical education scholarship, GIM fellowship training, as well as collaboration with other faculty and mentoring of students and residents. This leadership role will foster and facilitate educational research within the Division. Clinical responsibilities can include supervision and teaching of medical students and residents, both on the inpatient teaching service and the outpatient resident continuity clinic, as desired by the applicant. The candidate can participate as a preceptor in the Center for Primary Care or Fain Clinic in the Department of Medicine as desired by applicant. He/She can also participate in the teaching programs of the Division of General Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital which includes residents in the Department of Medicine and fellows in General Internal Medicine. There will be 50% protected time for medical education.
The Division of General Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital fosters academic excellence, provides the primary teaching for residents and medical students at The Warren Alpert Medical School, and maintains an academic environment strongly supportive of scholarship and research endeavors.
Minimum requirements include: the applicant must possess a MD and have completed a General Internal Medicine fellowship. A strong background in curriculum assessment, evaluation of clinical competency, qualitative research methods, survey instrument design, faculty development, and program evaluation is also required. Candidate must be academically qualified for a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine at The Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University and have a national or international reputation and scholarly achievements in his/her field. The candidate will be expected to actively participate in all activities of the Division of General Internal Medicine, the Department of Medicine, and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
