Leiomyoma

Grossly, this tumor is round and discrete and consists of whorled bundles of smooth muscle cells. Microscopically, smooth muscle cells. Areas of hemorrhage or calcification are not uncommon. This lesion is commonly referred to as a “fibroid”.

Bundles of smooth muscle cells. Some atypia is acceptable for this diagnosis but mitotic figures are scarce in these benign lesions.
