Alana Pinsky

Why did you choose WIH/Brown OB/GYN?

A combination of its stellar reputation, interview day vibes, the opportunity to learn from both community and hospital-based attendings while physically still at Women&Infants, and close proximity to my S.O. who works in Boston.

What are your interests within OB/GYN?

I plan to either go into MFM, general academic practice, or something else completely.

What is your favorite thing to do in Providence or Rhode Island?

The local small grocery circuit. Davis Dairy for the best corned beef around, and then right down Hope St to Seven Stars Bakery to make a mean sandwich!

Where do you live?

Downtown, for now.

One fun fact about you:

I know it's counterintuitive, but I've never baked or cooked more in my life than I have so far in residency! Nothing like a new kitchen and a bunch of new friends (with good appetites) to inspire.

One piece of advice for candidates:

Try not to anchor onto other people's opinions of the programs you have yet to interview. Eventually the opinions of trusted mentors and friends may matter, but let the place you're interviewing do the talking first. You don't want to spend interview day either confirming or refuting someone else's conclusions before you've made your own.
