SEPTEMBER

September 1 Online application opens
September Multiple dates offered for training on the new online application system and Graduate School Information Management (GSIM) system for DGSs and Departmental Administrators
September 21 Deadline for Fulbright Fellowship application (internal) at 4:30 pm
September 23* Presidential Management Fellows Program application deadline (external)
September 27 Graduate School Meeting with Chairs and DGSs at 4 pm in Smith Buonanno 106
September 28 Fulbright campus interview

OCTOBER

October Multiple dates offered for training on the new online application system and Graduate School Information Management (GSIM) system for DGSs and Departmental Administrators
October 1 Student evaluations and appointment projections via GSIM:

  • End of period for updating prior term progress evaluations
  • Begin entering projected appointments for 2012-2013 through October 15

October 10 Brown final submission deadline (internal) for Fulbright Fellowship at 4:30 pm
October 12 DAAD applications due to Associate Dean John Tyler at 4 pm (internal deadline)
October 12 Brown-Tougaloo Partnership Faculty Fellows Program application deadline
October 17 Fulbright Fellowship national application deadline
October 29 Horace Mann Medal nominations to Graduate_Dean@brown.edu

NOVEMBER

November 1 Deadline for students on leave to notify the Graduate School of a desire to return in the spring. Deadline for students on medical leave to submit materials for readmission, for spring semester, to the Office of Student Life. November 15 Spring term appointments due to Graduate School
November 15* Spring term bills generated
November 15 Application deadline for Brown Executive Scholars Training (BEST) Program

JANUARY

January 1 Spring term bill due date
January 14 Banner-based Application to Graduate open to students who expect to complete in May (Registrar's requirement)
January 31 Deadline to notify student of potential for removal from program before the start of the summer

FEBRUARY

February 8 Nominations due for named fellowships for incoming doctoral students (deadline extended from January 31)
February 15 Open Graduate Education deadline

MARCH

March 8 Dissertation Completion Proposals due by 5 pm (Close of business on the second Friday of March)
March 18 Summer appointments due to the Graduate School
March 18 Super Monday

APRIL

April 1 Nominations due for:

April 15 CGS-set deadline on offer notification (by receipt date)

MAY

May 1 Deadline for students on leave to notify the Graduate School of a desire to return in the fall. Deadline for students on medical leave to submit materials for readmission, for fall semester, to the Office of Student Life.
May 1 Thesis and dissertation submission deadline
May 1 Deadline for student to submit Application to Graduate via Banner (Registrar's requirement)
May 1 Deadline for graduate students to register to participate in Commencement (Graduate School requirement)
May 1 Deadline for each program to:

  • Communicate change in chair and DGS for next academic year
  • Set online application deadline cutoff for next admission cycle

May 18 Fall appointments due to the Graduate School
May 18 Bills for summer-start programs, such as UEP and MAT are generated (aid entered before this date will be reflected)
May 25 Graduate School Commencement rehearsal and reception
May 26 Commencement
May 31 Deadline to notify student of potential for removal from program before the start of the fall semester

JUNE

June 1 GSIM: on-going data entry for advisors, progress evaluations, and milestones
June 15* Fall term bills generated

SUMMER 2013

JULY

Via GSIM:

  • Add and/or update progress evaluations in the current term with prior term performance through October 1
  • Update of milestones
  • Update advisors (current and prospective terms)

AUGUST

August 1* Fall term bill due date
