Jason B.-- senior chemistry concentrator. I was drawn to this course because I thought the approach and organization of material was unique and interesting. Hours of Discovery Channel, History Channel, National Geographic, etc., along with a course on the Archaeology of Qumran have kept alive an interest in the "things" we leave behind, and I've always found the process of determining purpose of finds to be simultaneously mysterious and illuminating. A course on Transformations of the Research University along with a class on fiction writing both sparked my own interest in intention in designed spaces. I felt this course may hone this kind of thinking and approach the the world around me. It certainly will serve as a step outside of my intellectual/academic comfort zone, something I welcome in my final year here at Brown.
