This is the Allgemeine Elektrizitats-Gesellschaft (AEG) turbine factory in Berlin, designed by Peter Behrens in 1910. It is remarkable as an early example of a building with a glass curtain wall. The suggestion of a classical pediment sits on top of a "column", except the "column" is made of glass (very cool). The factory was praised for its open windows and natural light, improving the conditions of the industrial workers inside. Electricity did not only light cities; it created powerful corporations and was integral to progress in industrial architecture.
