The listings in the Arts and Entertainment section of the Phoenix provide a place for local artists, musicians, performing groups, etc. to advertise upcoming events. Listed in tiny print and narrow columns, the listings are nevertheless navigable thanks to bolded subheadings. Among those listed below are Dance, Film, Kids' Events and Readings.

The listings section of the Phoenix is also evidence of the paper's promotion of navigation over way-finding. Each event is listed alongside its date, time, and location. An outsider could technically enter the community and find his or her way to specific event without being informed by locals. In this sense the Phoenix is as much a map as it is a newspaper (see how does the darn thing use us?).

Local artists also benefit from the "8 Days a Week" spread in the A + E section, which highlights events of interest in the community between Thursday and Thursday, the days of release. The weekly "Home Grown Product" page gives a voice to local bands who would go unmentioned in larger publications. An article about a particular band is often published during the same week that the band is slotted to perform at a local venue. Similarly, reviews of local artists and actors coincide with the dates of local art openings and productions.
