This protest against “Indecent exposure to cars” involves hundreds of individuals gathering in the streets on their bicycles, as the name implies, naked. Many participants paint their bodies with encouraging pictures and phrases of the desire to be oil independent and bicycle friendly. For those who “dare to go bare,” there are over 70 cities around the world that partake in this event. The length the bicycle has come from the cumbersome dresses of the 19th century to the freedom of nudity is an undercurrent of the event. Individuals often promote a political message, while maintaining the strength and power of a community.
