Haram means sacred or inviolate zone. It is a Muslim holy site, for example “Al-Haramain Al-Sharifain” the two sacred places according to the Muslims are Mecca and Medina. Some people refer to the Haram al-sharif in Jerusalem as “Thalith al-haramain al-sharifain” the third sacred site in Islam.
