For this response, think about what ‘the past’ and ‘heritage’ mean to you. Many of you have commented already that we need to account for our audience when we craft the final report, but in reality archaeology gets wrapped up in numerous audiences at once. This week’s readings have emphasized slavery, ownership and authenticity among other things, which raise awareness of multiple perspectives on the past. How do conflicting ideas of the past and of heritage have an influence on the way we engage with our audiences through publication?
