National Monuments: “Historic Landmarks”, “Historic and Prehistoric Structures”, “other objects of historic or scientific interest located in lands owned or controlled by the Government.”

  1. National monuments protected by government are listed on a national register: appropriation, excavation, injury or destruction of monuments or antiquities is prohibited on public land
  2. The government may acquire by gift or purchase any historic or pre-historic site, building, object and property of national historic or archaeological significance, and may expropriate any land containing a monument
