Description

The Environmental Carcinogenesis Working Group is a group of trans-disciplinary expert scientists established by the Legoretta Cancer Center (LCC) at Brown University to identify environmental contaminants and chemicals that have been shown through scientifically valid testing according to generally accepted principles to cause cancer.

The Purpose of the Environmental Carcinogenesis Working group at LCC and affiliated Health Systems Lifespan and Care New England is to identify and pursue opportunities involving environmental carcinogens for innovative data-driven cancer-related research.

At monthly working group meetings, collaborating faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and medical students working with collaborating faculty including, basic, clinical, oncology, pathology, toxicology, biology, medicine, public health, statistics, epidemiology, population scientists, and other experts from other related fields to discuss ongoing clinical studies including basic research and clinical trials.

Goals

To identify and pursue opportunities involving environmental carcinogens for innovative data-driven cancer-related research and to foster translation of preclinical basic research principles into clinical trials.
