Call for Pilot Project Proposals

Submission Deadline: February 15, 2024

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is calling for proposal for pilot projects. The objective is to stimulate translational research collaborations and provide funding support for clinical faculty in the Brown affiliated hospital systems. Funds are available to support 2-3 projects (maximum of $25,000 per project).

Eligibility:

Faculty with employment in the Pathology Department of a Brown Affiliated Hospital are required as the primary applicant (Lifespan, Care New England, or the VA Hospitals).

Must be a joint proposal involving Pathology faculty (campus or hospital based) and/or inter-institutional research. Proposals involving three department sites (Brown, CNE, VA or Lifespan) are strongly encouraged.

One of principal investigators must be at the rank of assistant or associate professor.

The applicants have not received the same Pilot award from previous year.

Application Format:

Two to three-page proposal including:

  • Project Summary (<100 words)
  • Significance/Impact
  • Specific Aims
  • Research Strategies/Approaches
  • Brief Budget (maximum of $25,000; equipment, personnel and travel cost will not be covered)

CV from both Co-PIs

Project Period: April 15, 2024 – April 15, 2025

Reporting Requirements: The pilot project awardees will provide a final progress report to the Committee by July 1, 2025.
