Research is the cornerstone of CHER's mission and is made possible by members of the community who contribute their time and efforts through participation in our studies.
The Center for Health Equity Research is currently seeking participants for the following research studies:
Pepped for PrEP
Are you interested in PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis)? Do you use stimulants (e.g. crystal meth, cocaine, crack, or MDMA)?
Brown University seeks male volunteers for a research study testing a holistic therapy to treat issues related to stimulant use, PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), and sexual/mental health.
You might be eligible to participate if you are:
- age 18 or older
- a man who has sex with men
- HIV-negative/not already on PrEP
- currently a user of stimulants
By joining Pepped for PrEP, you will receive assistance in obtaining a prescription for PrEP and up to $265 for your participation over the course of study.
Some participants may also receive up to 10 free sessions of holistic therapy. These sessions will be focused on improving your mood and re-learning how to enjoy activities without using stimulants.

In partnership with the YMCA, this research study aims to assess changes in YMCA attendance based on possible monetary incentives or donations made in your name.
Must be an adult YMCA member at the Kent County YMCA.
