Summer in St. Petersburg

The Brown in St. Petersburg Summer Program is designed for American students who want to have an immersion experience in Russian language and culture. Students receive 90 hours instruction in Russian language from experienced Russian faculty and 42 hours instruction in art, architecture, literature, and culture of St. Petersburg from Brown faculty.

The program is hosted by St. Petersburg’s Nevsky Institute and will be supervised by three Brown faculty members: Svetlana Evdokimova, Vladimir Golstein, and MihailOklot.

Students will enroll one language and one culture course while in St. Petersburg.
Students may choose between Elementary, Intermediate or Advanced Intensive Russian, depending on the student's prior experience with the Russian language. Students will also take "A Window on Russia", focused on the art and culture of St. Petersburg. "A Window on Russia" will be taught in English.  No prior proficiency in Russian language is required. 

Students will arrive in St. Petersburg on June 8 and depart on July 28, 2008.
