Humanities Seminars for Juniors and Seniors

New for 2008-2009

The Cogut Center for the Humanities at Brown University is proud to announce a new program of Humanities seminars designed specifically for junior and senior undergraduates as well as graduate students.  Seminar offerings, which vary from semester to semester and year to year, provide an in-depth enhancement to humanities scholarship for the advanced undergraduate.  All classes are taught either by Brown faculty, as Cogut Center Faculty Fellows, or Visiting Professors in the Humanities from other institutions who are in residence at the Cogut Center.

Each semester's Humanities seminars are listed in Banner under HMAN and on the Cogut Center's website.  2008-2009 Cogut Center offerings include seminars in the comparative logic of capitalist modernity, the relationship of food production and consumption to political and social structures, and the history and cultural significance of fantasias, capriccios, and other bizarre genres of art.  Click on the link at right to read about the coming year's course offerings, which reflect the Cogut Center's mission to support collaborative, interdisciplinary, and comparative work across cultural and linguistic boundaries.
