Brown Community Surveys

The Office of Institutional Research and senior administrators are regularly informed by surveying various constituencies within the University community. We conduct these surveys independently, as well as in conjunction with outside consortiums and other University offices.

Surveys of Undergraduates, Graduate students, and Alumni are conducted on a regular schedule. Occasionally, we will survey other groups, such as parents.

Brief descriptions of a few surveys are below. In some cases, links to additional information or a summary of results are also provided.

Brown First-Year Survey

Conducted every spring, the Brown First-Year Survey is an assessment of the first-year experience and important dimensions of undergraduate life.

Alumni Survey

Conducted approximately every five years, the Alumni Survey provides information that is vital to the understanding of the experiences and perceptions of alumni ten years after graduation.

Parent Survey

The Parent Survey asks parents to evaluate the undergraduate experience, as well as provide information about their experiences with financing their son's or daughter's education.
