Bringing the World to Brown and Brown to the World

The internationalization initiative opens Brown’s doors to the world in ways that will stimulate and challenge us in Providence and beyond. Internationalization will both orient and disorient our intellectual reference points; it involves reconceptualizing disciplinary canons, interrogating established methodologies, exploring different archives and engaging with a wider community of colleagues. Internationalization will enable new research to address global problems, and revisit old problems from global perspectives. This vision grows naturally from Brown’s ethos of academic rigor, its distinctive openness to new ideas and its sense of responsibility to the world at large. The “new curriculum” successfully distinguished Brown among its national peer institutions forty years ago. Today we are at another transformative moment as we work to develop an innovative contribution to global education for this century.

This website functions as a gateway to the internationalization initiative at Brown and its manifestations in classrooms, labs and conference halls, at Brown and around the world.
