Education Studies Concentration Overview
Concentrators in Education Studies choose one of the two areas of emphasis: Human Development or History and Policy. The concentration requires ten courses meeting the specifications below. At least eight must be taken in the Education Department at Brown University. With the approval in advance of their class’s Concentration Advisor, two courses may be taken at Brown outside the Education Department or at another university.

Requirements In Outline:
The Education Studies concentration requires you to take ten courses, meeting the following specifications:
- Methods Course (1)
- Area of Emphasis Courses (5 min)
- Breadth Courses (2 min)
- Electives Courses (2 max)
- Honor Available (optional):
- meet all concentration requirements
- apply with thesis proposal during sixth semester
- minimum gpa of 3.5
- complete methods course by end of junior year
- complete ED197 and ED198 (Research and Writing in Education)
